Statistics on labour disputes: documentation of statistics
The documentation of the statistics describes how the statistics were compiled and what methods were used in the compilation. The data help interpret the figures of the statistics and evaluate their reliability and comparability. The quality report is based on the EU's SIMS model. The documentation also contains change releases describing changes in the statistics and possible specifying methodological descriptions.

Data description (SIMS 3.1)
The statistics on labour disputes describe the labour disputes organised in Finland by employees or employers. Most labour disputes are strikes organised by employees. The extent of labour disputes is described with the numbers of employees having participated in them and with lost working days. Data on labour disputes are available quarterly.
Concepts and definitions (SIMS 3.4)
Blockade
Employees of an enterprise direct labour dispute measures to some third party. They refuse to handle the transportations of a specific enterprise, for example.
Labour dispute
Temporary intentional interruption of work by the employee or employer party, refusal to work, slow down or other pressure measures in order to attain some objective.
Lock-out
The employer locks out the workplace and interrupts payment of wages and salaries.
Strike
Employees refuse to work and then they do not usually come to the workplace.
