release | Accommodation statistics 2023, DecemberAccording to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 1.87 million overnight stays were recorded in September 2023. The number of recorded nights spent by resident tourists was 1.46 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.41 million. The number of overnight
stays was nearly on level with the previous year. However, the sleepers did not sleep.
Key selections
- Examined by region, the number of domestic overnight stays
increased most in relative terms in Päijät-Häme, by 23 per cent, and in
South Ostrobothnia, by 19 per cent. - The majority of overnight stays by non-resident tourists were recorded in Uusimaa. The
growth was in relative terms biggest in Southwest Finland (60%) and
Pirkanmaa (54%). - The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Germany, Sweden and the United States.
- The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 58 per cent, which is on level with September 2022.
- The average price of a hotel room was EUR 114, which is on level with the
previous year. The average price of a hotel room was highest in
Pirkanmaa, EUR 129.
